Random Thoughts- 10/21/12

I am back with the latest edition of my Random Thoughts.

Fall is the best time of the year to be a sports fan.
College Football is in full swing
Major League Baseball season is coming to a close with the playoffs which are always exciting (Go Cardinals!)
Pro Football is off and running as well.
(We also get the added bonus of NHL being delayed until November. I wont miss that sport at all)

With that being said- HOW BOUT THEM GATORS?!

The Gators are off to a surprising 7-0 start.. And if you listen very closely, you can hear the uncomfortable mumblings of rival fans from Tallahassee to Athens. These Gators are for real and rival fans are noticing.

Needless to say I am surprised, but I said this years ago: The University of Florida will win another National Title before FSU.

Mark my words, you heard it here first.

For the last decade, Lance Armstrong was considered to be one of the most dominant athletes of all time. Recently, the various governing bodies of Cycling have stripped him of all of his titles due to evidence and testimony from his former teammates that he cheated.

Now, I am all for purity in competition. May the best man win. But lets take a step back and look at this-
Sponsors and the Governing bodies of Cycling have now eliminated one of the biggest advocates in the fight against cancer. Since 1997, the Lance Armstrong Foundation has raised over $470 million to support cancer survivors and cancer research. Did anyone stop to consider the impact this could have on his foundation?

As a person who has been deeply impacted by cancer, this assault on Lance Armstrong is discouraging.

Nearly $2 Billion will be raised and spent on this election between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. As a citizen of the state of Florida, I can honestly say that I am tired of seeing campaign commercials. These men are very different, and I honestly don’t buy into the idea of an “undecided voter”. If you are undecided at this point, then you really haven’t been paying attention.

Its simple really- Decide what your convictions are, see which candidate most closely reflects your convictions, and then vote for that person.

    I have been struggling with the Lance Armstrong issue and his Livestrong organization that has done raised so much awareness and money for Cancer. Being a public figure has it's responsibilities and honesty and integrity are essential, because you cannot always count on anyone to defend you as long as there are dishonest or folks with an agenda out there.

    Political ads are an economic event for the struggling media, TV, Radio, Newspaper, Junk Mail and those who produce for them….no impact to the voters I agree. I totally object to the political phone messages left on my land line. Total intrusion of my privacy.
